Freeing emotions and energy through Myofascial Release

January 28, 2012 // Posted in Book (Tags: ) |  No Comments

Freeing Emotions and Energy Through Myofascial Release by Noah KarraschToo many of us hold our physical, mental and emotional pain within our bodies, where it slows energy, manifests as tension and can have a damaging impact upon our health. In his new book, Noah Karrasch shows that wellbeing and healing come from the detangling of blocked emotions and the restoration of the free flow of energy through the body.

Written for bodywork and manual therapy practitioners from a wide variety of disciplines, as well as other healers who want to expand their skills, this generously illustrated book explains how and where emotions and static energy are held in the body, and how they can be released and rebalanced in therapies that challenge bodymindcore awareness. It includes many new ideas and techniques: useful conversation starters to help practitioners encourage clients to self-identify their challenges, detailed explanations of myofascial release techniques and self-reflective exercises designed to first help the practitioner truly understand the process for him or herself, through his or her own body, in order to become a more empathetic and effective therapist.

This important book will enable bodywork and manual therapy practitioners to work more confidently, and more intuitively, with their clients.

Meet Your Body: Core Bodywork and Rolfing Tools to Release BodyMindCore Trauma

Noah Karrasch's Meet Your BodyThis book began as a textbook for students, to present the ideas I’ve been teaching for the past fifteen years, and to make the concepts more presentable to their clients also. During a CORE I class, my students unanimously told me a book for clients was more important than another textbook. I rewrote the first book in language more suited to a client who doesn’t have a great deal of background in anatomy, physiology or movement.

The result is a book of ten chapters which features a different hinge or hinges in each of the chapters. We begin with the big toe hinge, work up through the ankle, knee, hip, low back, stomach back, heart hinge, arm hinge, shoulder, elbow, wrist and fingers, and complete the trip through the body with the head hinge. Each chapter not only describes the particular hinge and its function; it also invites you to realize how you might use that hinge more fully to enhance performance throughout your entire body. With many illustrations and photos included to help you understand the text, I believe you’ll find this book easy to use as you begin to unwind your core, find better balance, and meet your body. — Noah

Meet Your Body was released in February 2009. It is now available from Jessica Kingsley Publishers and Amazon. Meet Your Body is also available in local bookstores and massage magazines.
